ART 

Our Vision for Art 
At Our Lady’s school, we believe Art stimulates imagination and 
creativity; and that pupils should have the opportunity to explore 
this by both exploring artist and artworks and creating their own. 

Intent 
We intend to provide an art curriculum which is engaging, inspiring 
and challenges pupils’ whilst allowing them to develop their skills and 
artistic knowledge. We intend to develop creativity, experimentation 
and develop skills so that pupils can communicate what they see, 
think and feel through the use of the elements of colour, texture, 
form and pattern.

Implementation
Pupils will be encouraged to use their imagination and creativity
through a wide variety of media and manipulative skills as well as
developing an awareness of colour, texture, design, and dimension.
Lessons will be hands on allowing students to experiment and 
explore. Pupils will be introduced to a range of artists, architects, 
sculptors, and designers and art works helping to inspire. Technical
ability will be modeled by teachers and pupils will be able to 
practices and develop their skills with progression throughout 
lessons and the key stages.

Impact
Pupils will have built on their confidence, creativity and skills in their 
own art works. They will have had the opportunity have used a range 
of materials and media. Pupils will have developed an appreciation and 
knowledge of the works of other artists and will understand how art 
can reflection of history and society.
